Market Cap
Market Cap = Current Price x Circulating Supply
Refers to the total market value of a cryptocurrency’s circulating supply. It is similar to the stock market’s measurement of multiplying price per share by shares readily available in the market (not held & locked by insiders, governments) Read More |

Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Synth (sn50)
Synth is a decentralized intelligence layer on the Bittensor network that generates high-fidelity synthetic data for financial forecasting.
- The project incentivizes a global network of quantitative researchers and data scientists to model future price probability distributions.
- Miners submit ensemble forecasts of simulated price paths for crypto, equities, and commodities to capture full market uncertainty.
- Validators score submissions using the Continuous Ranked Probability Score (CRPS) to reward both accuracy and sharpness of the predicted distributions.
What Is Synth
Synth is a specialized Bittensor subnet (Subnet 50) designed to produce the world's most powerful synthetic data for financial time series. Unlike traditional forecasting systems that provide single-point price predictions, Synth focuses on capturing the entire probability distribution of possible price movements. This approach allows users to understand not just where a price might go, but the likelihood of various outcomes, including extreme market events.
Value moves through the system via a competitive incentive loop. Miners contribute their computational models to generate thousands of simulated price paths, which are then aggregated into a collective intelligence layer. The SN50 token represents the utility and value generated by this forecasting engine. It is put to work by rewarding the highest-performing miners, while institutions and AI agents pay for API access to the resulting synthetic data. This scales as the ecosystem expands to cover a broader range of assets, including the top 75 cryptocurrencies and various global equities and commodities.
What Makes Synth Unique
- Probabilistic Focus: Rather than predicting a single price, the network models volatility clustering and fat-tailed distributions to reflect real-world market dynamics.
- Multi-Asset Scope: The subnet operates three distinct competitions: Crypto 1h, Crypto 24h, and Commodities/Equities 24h, covering assets from Bitcoin and Ethereum to S&P 500 proxies and gold.
- Proper Scoring Rules: By using CRPS, the network ensures that miners are rewarded for providing well-calibrated forecasts that neither underestimate nor overestimate market risk.
- Decentralized Quant Network: It leverages Bittensor's architecture to coordinate hundreds of independent quants, creating a "metamodel" that consistently outperforms standard benchmarks like Geometric Brownian Motion.
What Can You Use Synth for?
- Options and Derivatives Pricing: Traders can use the synthetic probability distributions to better price options and manage risk in complex derivative portfolios.
- AI Agent Training: Developers of AI-driven trading agents can use the high-fidelity synthetic data to train models on realistic price action without relying solely on historical data.
- Liquidation Forecasting: DeFi protocols can integrate Synth's data to predict potential liquidation events and adjust collateral requirements dynamically.
- Portfolio Management: Institutional investors can utilize the forecasts for backtesting and stress-testing portfolios against various probable market scenarios.
How Does Synth Work?
Synth operates through a continuous cycle of requests and evaluations. Validators send checking prompts to miners containing parameters such as the asset, start time, and required number of simulations. Miners have a limited window to return 1,000 simulated price paths, which they typically generate using quantitative models or by sourcing data from high-frequency oracles like Pyth.
Once the forecast time horizon has passed, validators compare the miners' ensemble paths against actual price movements. They calculate the CRPS for multiple time increments (e.g., 5 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours) to determine a final per-request score. These scores are averaged over a rolling window—10 days for long-term forecasts and 5 days for short-term ones—to ensure consistent performance. Emissions are then allocated using a softmax function, where lower scores (higher accuracy) result in greater rewards. As an application utility token, SN50 facilitates these protocol service fees and incentive distributions within the subnet.
Team Info and Investors
The project was co-founded by James Ross, who is also the founder of the Mode Layer 2 network. The core team includes Sam Hyatt, the AI modeling lead with extensive experience in quantitative modeling and algorithmic trading; Nathan, the lead architect with a background in distributed systems; Amber Shi, who leads strategy and business development; and Devid, who heads quantitative finance research. Synth has received early strategic backing from investors such as DSV Fund, which made an initial $50,000 OTC investment to support the project's development as a core primitive in AI finance.
