Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About VeThor (VTHO)
VeThor is the secondary native token of the VeChainThor blockchain, serving as the energy or gas required to power all transactions and smart contract executions on the network.
- Dual-Token Economy: It operates alongside VeChain (VET) to separate the cost of using the network from the market value of the primary asset.
- Passive Generation: Holders of the VET token automatically generate VTHO over time, providing a continuous supply for network operations.
- Dynamic Cost Management: The network can adjust the VTHO generation rate or transaction costs to ensure predictable expenses for enterprise users.
What Is VeThor
VeThor is the functional utility token within the VeChain ecosystem. Its primary purpose is to represent the underlying cost of using the VeChainThor blockchain resources. In this dual-token system, while the primary token serves as a store of value and governance tool, VTHO functions as the operational fuel.
Value moves through the system as users and developers consume VTHO to interact with decentralized applications or transfer assets. The token is put to work by paying for transaction fees and smart contract processing, ensuring that the network remains functional and secure. As the ecosystem grows and more enterprises adopt the platform, the demand for VTHO scales with the increasing volume of on-chain activity.
This economic model is designed to provide stability for businesses. By decoupling the cost of transactions from the volatile price of the primary asset, VeChainThor aims to keep operational costs predictable, which is a critical requirement for large-scale enterprise adoption.
What Makes VeThor Unique
- Stable Transaction Costs: Unlike many other Layer 1 networks where gas prices fluctuate wildly with market demand, VeChainThor can stabilize costs by adjusting technical variables through community governance.
- Fee Delegation: The platform supports meta-transaction features like fee delegation, allowing a third party or a smart contract to pay the VTHO gas fees for a user, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for non-crypto users.
- Predictable Supply: VTHO is generated at a fixed rate per VET held, ensuring a transparent and predictable issuance schedule that is directly tied to the growth of the network's base layer.
What Can You Use VeThor for?
- Transaction Fees: Every transfer of assets or data on the VeChainThor blockchain requires a specific amount of VTHO to be paid as gas.
- Smart Contract Execution: Developers use VTHO to deploy and run smart contracts that power supply chain tracking, carbon credit systems, and other decentralized services.
- DApp Interaction: Users of applications within the ecosystem, such as the VeBetter sustainability platform, utilize VTHO for on-chain actions and rewards.
- Ecosystem Governance: While primarily a utility token, VTHO's role in the economic model is central to governance discussions regarding network resource allocation.
How Does VeThor Work?
VeThor functions as the gas for the VeChainThor network, which utilizes a Proof of Authority consensus mechanism. In this system, authorized Masternodes validate transactions and secure the network, receiving a portion of the VTHO spent on fees as a reward.
VTHO is generated at a base rate for every VeChain (VET) token held in a wallet. When a transaction is processed, the required VTHO is consumed. To manage inflation and maintain the token's value, a significant percentage of the VTHO used in each transaction is permanently burned, while the remainder is distributed to the Authority Masternodes that produced the block. This burn mechanism creates a deflationary pressure that counterbalances the continuous generation of new tokens.
Team Info and Investors
VeThor was launched as part of the VeChainThor mainnet in 2018 by the VeChain Foundation. The project was founded in 2015 by Sunny Lu, who previously served as the CIO of Louis Vuitton China and co-founded the Qtum project. The technical development is led by CTO Antonio Senatore, who brings extensive experience in blockchain architecture and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
The project has secured backing from major global entities and venture capital firms, including early partnerships and investments from PwC and DNV. Governance is managed by the VeChain Foundation, a non-profit entity that oversees the development and adoption of the network through a structured community voting system.
