Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About MEZO (MEZO)
MEZO is an onchain Bitcoin banking platform designed to provide users with permissionless access to financial services using their Bitcoin holdings.
- Users can access self-service Bitcoin finance, including borrowing and yield generation, without intermediaries or credit checks.
- The platform enables the minting of MUSD, a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the U.S. Dollar and backed by Bitcoin reserves.
- It utilizes a dual-token economic system where MEZO acts as a coordination asset to steer incentives and govern protocol parameters.
What Is MEZO
MEZO is the native coordination and governance token for the Mezo network, a platform purpose-built for a self-custodial Bitcoin banking experience. The project aims to empower users to utilize their Bitcoin equity for everyday finance without the need to sell their underlying assets. Value moves through the system as users deposit Bitcoin as collateral to access liquidity or participate in yield-generating vaults.
The MEZO token is put to work through a locking mechanism known as Mezo Earn. By locking MEZO tokens, participants receive veMEZO, which serves as a strategic coordination asset. While Bitcoin remains the anchor of the ecosystem, MEZO is used to steer emissions, exercise price governance rights, and route fee flows. As the ecosystem grows, the token's utility scales by capturing execution value from network activities such as asset swaps and transaction fees.
What Makes MEZO Unique
- Bitcoin-Native Economic Layer: Unlike generic smart contract platforms, Mezo is specifically optimized for Bitcoin holders to maximize the utility of their BTC.
- Dual-Token Matching Market: The protocol introduces a novel governance structure that requires pairing locked Bitcoin (veBTC) with locked MEZO (veMEZO) to achieve maximum voting influence.
- Fixed-Rate Borrowing: The platform offers self-service loans with fixed interest rates, providing predictability compared to the variable rates common in other DeFi lending markets.
- High Loan-to-Value (LTV) Ratios: Users can access up to 90% of their Bitcoin's value as borrowing capacity while maintaining full price exposure to their collateral.
What Can You Use MEZO for?
- Governance Participation: Holders can lock MEZO for periods ranging from one week to four years to receive veMEZO, allowing them to participate in protocol governance.
- Voting Power Amplification: veMEZO acts as a multiplier, boosting the voting power of veBTC positions up to 5x to influence gauge emissions.
- Anti-Dilution Protection: Locked MEZO positions are eligible for protocol rebases, which distribute additional tokens to protect long-term lockers from dilution.
- Incentive Direction: Participants use their boosted voting power to direct MEZO emissions toward specific liquidity pools or staking gauges within the ecosystem.
How Does MEZO Work?
MEZO operates on the Mezo blockchain, an EVM-compatible Layer 1 network designed to integrate seamlessly with the Bitcoin ecosystem. The technical foundation relies on the Threshold Network's tBTC bridge, allowing users to move Bitcoin onto the Mezo network in a decentralized manner. Once on-chain, all transactions and protocol service fees are paid in Bitcoin (BTC), rather than the native MEZO token, ensuring that Bitcoin remains the primary medium of exchange and gas asset.
The network currently utilizes a Proof of Authority consensus mechanism, with long-term plans to transition to a Proof of Stake model. In this future state, validator economic weight will be determined by staked MEZO, while veBTC/veMEZO voting will influence the distribution of validator rewards. The protocol's "Splitter" contracts automatically manage the flow of fees and emissions, ensuring a transparent and programmatic distribution of value among validators, liquidity providers, and governance participants.
